Adrian Wilson, ex-Cardinals star and Panthers exec, arrested on domestic violence charges

Former Carolina Panthers vice president of player personnel and Arizona Cardinals safety, Adrian Wilson, was arrested on three domestic violence-related charges in Scottsdale, Arizona during the early morning hours of June 1, according to a spokesperson from the Scottsdale Police Department and court records.

The Panthers announced on Sunday that 44-year-old Wilson was no longer with the team, but did not provide further details.

Wilson was arrested at his residence just after 6 a.m. on June 1 and charged with assault, criminal damage, and disorderly conduct, as confirmed by a Scottsdale police spokesperson on Tuesday. All three charges are misdemeanors. According to online court records, Wilson's next court appearance is scheduled for a case management conference on July 16. Wilson did not promptly respond to a voicemail left on his phone.

Throughout his 12-year NFL playing career, Wilson remained with the Cardinals. He earned five Pro Bowl selections and was named a 2009 All-Pro. In 2015, he was inducted into the Cardinals Ring of Honor. After spending eight seasons in various roles with Arizona's scouting department, Wilson joined the Panthers in February 2023. Moreover, he served as the Cardinals' co-interim general manager at the conclusion of the 2022 season following Steve Keim's indefinite leave of absence.

Wilson was born in High Point, N.C., where he played high school football before excelling at N.C. State. He was selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2001 draft.

Asked whether the Panthers knew about the arrest, a spokesperson referred The Athletic to the team’s initial statement, released on Sunday: “Adrian Wilson will not continue in his position as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Carolina Panthers. Consistent with our organizational policy on employee matters, we will have no further comment.”
