Are Michigan and the B1G Ten Ready for the NWO of College Football: Oregon, Washington and USC?

Michigan is hosting Southern Cal on September 21st.  September 21st.  In College Football.  In Ann Arbor, MI.  No it's not a neutral site game.  USC is actually traveling to the midwest to play a college football game.  And, whoa, it is a conference game.  Not just for bragging rights.  It means something.  The Oregon Duck floating down the White River in Indianapolis invading B1G Ten Media Days this week.   Then later on in the year, invading Ann Arbor, as well.   Texas in a non conference game. Washington, as well.  Welcome to College Football 2024.

Eighteen teams in the B1G Ten.  One division.  Still a championship game.  Welcome to college football 2024.    I am still relishing in the fact that The B1G Ten has the defending national champion in Michigan.  But change starts there, as well.  Jim Harbaugh took his championship and bolted to the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers, a names that is still taking time to get used to, by the way.  It is amazing how in some aspects, Michigan is considered in a rebuilding year und new coach Sherrone Moore.  Even with taking my maize and blue glasses off, I don't see it as a rebuilding year.   They have too good of a defense to fall off too much.  But wow their schedule is daunting.  Not only with the games I mentioned above, they have to travel to Washington, as well as Ohio State.   Underdog to win the B1G Ten maybe, but rebuilding,  only if you call a 9-3 or 10-2 team rebuilding.

Oregon has all the makings of being the ultimate heel coming into the backyard of the B1G Ten.  They are so loaded with talent.  Dillon Gabriel transferring in to lead the offense.  A wide receiver core that rivals any team in the country.  They are going to dazzle you.  But their schedule will be a tough one.  At Oregon State and Michigan.  Home games against Ohio State and Washington.  A sleeper tough game will be the second to last game at Wisconsin.  A November game in the midwest for a west coast team.  Now granted, it isn't USC coming to Madison in the cold, but it will be intriguing, none the less.   I still think they will get a pass if they do not qualify for the post season.  At least compared to Ohio State.

Is there a coach in America who is going to be under as much scrutiny as Ryan Day at Ohio State.  They have gone out this year and gotten themselves almost the best team that money can buy.  They have been undefeated in the last three years, except against Michigan.  They have brought in such talent as Will Howard from Kansas State to lead them at quarterback.   Treveyon Henderson at RB.   Emeka Egbuka at WR.  Just to name a few.  The spotlight is on them.  One break they may get is their schedule.  One big test on the road.  At Oregon in October.  Yes, I know that they have to go to Penn State, but The Nittany Lions can't beat anybody of stature, so that doesn't count.  they have Michigan to end the year.  There is no excuses for Ryan Day any more.  This is laid out perfectly for them to go to the B1G Ten Championship Game, let alone a shoe in playoff appearance.

Penn State has a good chance to get into the playoff based on their cheesy schedule.  No Michigan, no Oregon.  Home games against Ohio State, and Washington.  They do have to go to Wisconsin and USC, but come on.  This is set up perfectly for the Nittany Lions.  But remember who we are talking about.  James Franklin is the king of puffing his chest out, and talking a good game.  But he is the Bobby Heenan of college coaches.  Always stumbles and gets knocked out of the ring in the end.

Weird we are not mentioning USC and Washington as contenders.  Lincoln Riley, the wunderkind of college coaches.  Had it all set up for him with the second coming of Tom Brady in Caleb Williams.  The over under on them is seven.  Seven.  That is not the makings of a national championship contender and a "so-called" blue blood.  And Washington.  Over under is 6.5.  The defending national championship game participant.  Welcome to the B1G Ten, boys.

I am not one to embrace change when it comes to my sports, especially college football.  But I am really looking forward to it.  I kind of liken it to when baseball went to interleague play, though.  I hope the luster of all these matchups doesn't rub off too quickly.  Michigan playing Texas,  USC, Oregon, Washington, Ohio State, and Michigan State in the same year?  Well worth losing a game against Penn State.  I love that lineup.  Who would have thought we would ever see a schedule like that.

On July 24th, I am going along with many others when I say it'll be Ohio State v. Oregon in the B1G Ten Championship game.  Oregon being the villain.  The outsiders.  The new NWO, if you will.   What a great storyline that will be.  Time to lace up the boots, get the barbed wire out, and jump off the top rope!  Let's have some fun!
