Folks, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. The College Football Playoff will always favor teams like Alabama and Ohio State over everyone else. Don't expect it to change, and don't think a new committee will fix this. It's the same machine that continues ruining the sport with unlimited transfers, paying crazy salaries for rosters, scheduling marquee games at Noon because of money for time slots and no regard to fans, and giving three-loss teams affiliated with ESPN the benefit of the doubt.
Also, we have teams ranked ahead of people they lost to, claims that "so and so haven't beaten anyone", their strength of record during high humidity, their record during full moon phases, and every other excuse why leaving more deserving teams out of the playoffs is justified. It really comes down to this, here are the biggest fan bases in the country: https://www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/ncaa-football/college-football-rankings-teams-fan-bases-ohio-state-texas-alabama-georgia-notre-dame
There you have it. "Biggest fan bases" translates to roughly, "they make us the most money."
No other team would survive a loss to 6-6 Vanderbilt (an educational institute) AND a 21-point blowout to 6-6 Oklahoma TWO WEEKS AGO!!!! Yes, two weeks ago, a supposed playoff team went into Oklahoma, a team with a 6-5 record, got boat raced, beat down, shut down, and completely dominated.
Here is Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark's full three-and-a-half-minute rant about the College Football Playoff committee and the CFP rankings.@SunDevilSource pic.twitter.com/G5htwosbsd

As the South Carolina coach said, scheduling a tough non-conference almost doesn't make sense. Because while fans of Team A will claim everyone Team B beat is terrible (the worst argument on the planet for Power 4 schedules), the committee itself doesn't seem to ding you for blowout losses to .500 teams with that same brand recognition, regardless of how down they are (see list above again).
Not to mention, these same types of people are ranking teams and nobody knows why. So certain conferences get more ranked matchups when teams in their conference have no business being ranked.
Good grief make it make sense.
The only thing worse than watching the good ole boys reveal their crush list every Tuesday is watching second-stringer after second-stringer post on social media that they're transferring for the 3rd straight year.
Maybe it's you, dude.
Or, maybe it's me, but this doesn't feel like a good product from any angle. And here I was, excited a 12-team format was finally adopted. Unfortunately, the money-hungry bastards who had to fork over some of their money to the players finally decided to expand the playoff (to recover their losses) and they realized sending the same old teams into the playoff maximizes their profit.
Oh well, there's always soccer.
Dammit.
